Rendering in Rhino

From TOI-Pedia

Visualisation Options

There are many different ways to visualize your designs in Rhino. At our faculty, we often use one of these three: Enscape, Lumion or Twinmotion. These are all fast and easy to use, with their own built-in asset library that lets you fill your design with furniture, plants, and people.

All three software options offer free student licenses, for more information visit their respective website. All programs are also installed on the computers at the VR Lab and you can use them for your projects.

Enscape

Enscape is the easiest to use of all three programs. It also has the largest library, especially for interiors. This makes it the best option for simple scenes. The performance stays high with complex models too, where the other programs can struggle or even crash.

If you want to learn more about using Enscape, check out the software specific article.

Lumion

Lumion can be used to create the most beautiful renders. However, this also requires a bit more knowledge, for example about setting up different lighting options. Unfortunately, Lumion doesn’t give you the option to walk through your scene in VR.

Twinmotion

Twinmotion has lots of customizable objects and characters. Trees can grow, seasons can change and with simple paths you can make people and cars move. It also offers simple camera controls and a sound system that lets you add sounds to your scene, for example city and forest sounds. Therefore, Twinmotion is the best option for animations. It is owned by Epic Games, which means improvements happen often and you have the option to add Megascan objects.
