Birail

From TOI-Pedia

Surfaces > Birail creates a surface from one or more profile curves and two rail curves. The ends of the profile curve(s) must be on the rail curves, controlling the outer edges of the surface. The extra control over the edges makes it perfect for generating geometry which will have to accurately fit between objects. Another option is the modeling of complex shapes by using a series of patches defined at the edges and connected in a later stage.

There are several methods of generating the surfaces:

  • The birail 2 option will make a shape between two profile curves along two rail curves. First select the Bi-rail 2 Tool. Select the two profile curves, then the two rail curves.

  • The Bi-rail 3 option will creates a surface between three profile curves along two rail curves. This allows for more control or variation in the surface along both rails. First select the Bi-rail 3 Tool. Select the three profile curves, then the two rail curves.

You get the best results if all profile curves have the same number of spans.
