Introduction
FCheck is software that is packaged with Maya. It's an application that can be used to open images and image sequences rendered with Maya. Furthermore you can use it to save these images in a different file-format.
Starting fCheck
A shortcut to the FCeck application should be placed in the Maya program folder in the Start menu. If you need to browse for the executable - when you use the 'Open with' option on a file for instance -, you can find in the bin directory in the Maya directory.
For Maya 20## this would typically be:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya20##\bin\fcheck.exe
Using FCheck
Most uses of FCheck are pretty self-explanatory. Some important notes:
Saving an image in a different format
Make sure you set View > Full Resolution before you save the image. Otherwise you will probably save a file with reduced resolution.
Z-depth
FCheck is capable of visualizing the Z-depth channel of an image, if present.
You can switch between the (RGB) color channel, Alpha channel and Z-depth channel using the icons in the toolbar, or the commands in the View menu.
