Using file textures

From TOI-Pedia

Introduction

There are 3 types of file textures.

  • File texture – digital image
  • Movie texture – digital movie, used for animations for example a moving background
  • PSD – this is similar to the file texture , with the difference that the consists of multiple images similar to the layers of the PSD. This can be a fast and effective method of combining multiple images in a single shader.

Special note for Mental Ray rendering

When using gray-scale images as textures for properties like transparency, reflectivity, bump, etc, you must enable 'Alpha is Luminance' in the Color Balance section. Furthermore it's recommended to set Filtertype to Off for these filetextures.
